EHP Resort & Marina’s latest addition: Sunset Harbor

Last year, financier and media personality Heath Freeman added the East Hampton Restaurant Harbor Bistro to his wallet and transfer it to a brand new place called Sunset Harbor.

Sunset Harbor opened its doors on June 4 after Freeman bought it for $4 million in December, adding to his portfolio of East Hampton properties that includes Buongiorno, Sí Sí Mediterranean Restaurant, and EHP Resort & Marina. He also owns another location in Buongiorno in Montauk. The new menu for Sunset Harbor was created by Dane Sayles, Head of Culinary and Operations for EHP Resort & Marina.

“When envisioning the new restaurant, we wanted to preserve the integrity of the former restaurant that was on the premises, Harbor Bistro, which was a summer staple,” says Sayles, who was the company’s executive chef at Gurney’s Resorts for five years before joining the EHP team. Resort & Marina. “At Sunset Harbor, we continue to serve fresh, seasonal American cuisine with a heavy emphasis on seafood, just in a modern way to Hamptons locals and today’s travelers.”

The menu features a variety of sushi that highlights fresh local fish, as well as handcrafted noodles and other fresh seafood dishes. Most dishes are served family style and are designed for sharing. Caswella mussels are Chef Sayles’ favorite item on the menu.

“It’s also a special dish for me because we make the broth by hand using my mother’s recipe,” says Sayles. “Coconut milk is simmered in spices, herbs, dried mushrooms, and ginger that blend delightfully with mussels.”

Overlooking the Three Mile Harbor, Sunset Harbor offers waterfront dining with stunning ocean views. The restaurant is designed to look elevated and very elegant, yet still provide a casual and welcoming feel to guests.

“People are just as comfortable getting off the beach in a cover-up and straight to Sunset Harbor as they are dressed up for a fun night out with friends,” says Sayles.

Damian O’Donnell, owner and former chef of Harbor Bistro, moved to Bostwick’s on the Harbor and brought his favorite menu items from Harbor Bistro with him. Bostwick’s on the Harbor opened May 5, and in mid-June, the restaurant began operating seven days a week.

Sunset Harbor is open for lunch and dinner from noon to 10 pm, and Sunset Harbor is located at 313 Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road in East Hampton. He can be reached at 631-658-9380 or
