Rumor has it that when Vernon Rudolph started making Krispy Kreme Original Glazed cupcakes in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he intended to market and sell them exclusively to grocery and grocery stores.

However, the addictive smell wafting on the street has people claiming it fresh from the source. Rudolph quickly changed his selling strategy, and a hole was quickly dug into the outside of the building so that Krispy Kreme could sell donuts straight to passersby, straight from the pan.
The rest is history. This intoxicating scent can be smelled at more than 1,400 Krispy Kreme locations and 12,000 other stores in 30 countries around the world, according to Investor’s Business Daily.
