Fiesta Fun

Cosmica
Boston, Massachusetts
number of heads Up to 50 seated guests or 250 guests in a standing reception
price Starting at $3000

Located in the Cal-Mex Restaurant in the South End’s Revolution Cosmica It has the same funky, bohemian vibe as its sister restaurant, The Beehive, but with a festive twist. Come to your dream Taco Tuesday, stay for the slow roast lamb Barbacoa, ceviche, Mexican corn salad, and as much jack as your chips can handle. Mix on the patio, then head inside, margarita in hand, into the industrial-chic space, filled with hanging plants and colorful glass lanterns. Snap a photo in front of the cheery yellow mural before hitting the dance floor. One look at the liquor machines behind the bar, and you’ll know this place is ready to start the party. Need a vow inspiration? The neon sign “Feed me tacos and tell me I’m pretty” says it all.

Clink Cups in Back Bay ContessaA glamorous Italian trattoria perched above the Newbury Hotel Boston. The Ken Fulk-designed space is whimsically sophisticated and always Instagram-worthy, featuring a glass ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the public garden, and pink velvet banquettes. And the food – from New York-based Major Food Group – tastes as good as the place looks.

Escape from the island

Wusong . Road
Cambridge, Massachusetts
number of heads Up to 100 seated
price Starting at $2,500 an hour

Start your tropical honeymoon early in kitschy-but-cool Wusong . Road, an upscale tiki restaurant and bar in Harvard Square where chef/owner Jason Doe—whose parents ran a Chinese restaurant in Malden—serves classic American Chinese dishes with a twist. Pamper your guests with delicacies ranging from green papaya salad to pulled pork served on paws or animal buns. Enjoy dinner under lamps made from indonesian fish baskets upstairs in the main dining area, then go downstairs to the Lantern Room to sip my Thai in tiki-style cups and dance the night away between the bamboo and rattan-lined walls. On the way, stop to marvel at a giant banyan tree and moss-like stone wall (almost like a temple) featuring a larger-than-life monkey statue modeled on the Three Wise Monkeys, a Japanese cultural icon. Once the cake is cut, sneak away to the ceiling bar with your sweetheart to share a scorpion bowl, because what says “I love you” more than that?

Moo… a seaport
Boston, Massachusetts
number of heads Up to 70 guests seated
price Starting at $100 per person

Celebrate in style Moo….port, the newest outpost in the hot Beacon Hill area. Right in the heart of Fort Point, this is not a stuffy steakhouse experience. Exposed brick and comfortable benches softly lit by modern structural chandeliers give an elegant look to I dos. Sip a scotch by the fireplace and savor wagyu beef dumplings and maine lobster tempura when your guests arrive, then dine in one of three private rooms. And while there are plenty of great Omaha Prime cuts to choose from, the lighter fare (think: Faroe Islands salmon and mushroom bakery) is downright chic. But that’s your big day, consider trying the Steak Experience, where each main piece is made even more sumptuous with the addition of roasted garlic and bone marrow butter.

pre wedding activity

Have your guests step out into the open water, where they will see Boston from a whole new angle Boston paddle. Rent canoes, kayaks, or even paddleboards if you’re feeling adventurous, and take a cruise on the Charles River. Stop along the way for a picnic on the beach, and enjoy watching fellow boaters, sailors, and rowers alike. You will have plenty of starting points to choose from in the city or suburbs.
