summer weed crops

Summer garden weeds don’t take time off, but they will continue to grow and choke vegetable crops. The best way to control it is to pull it by the roots and throw it out of the garden. This weed has deep roots and by uprooting it is the best way to destroy it.

Watch out for the deck canopy

Warm summer afternoons can lead to an afternoon thunderstorm that generates high winds that can blow over the rooftop canopy and take the rooftop table with it. If there is a thunderstorm in the forecast, remove the umbrella. If you go on vacation, always do these two things for peace of mind and protection. Remove the deck canopy, store it, turn off the ice maker in the refrigerator, and don’t forget to turn it back on once you get home.

Keep tomatoes nourished

Warm days and nights cause tomato plants to bloom and green tomatoes to form. Feed the tomatoes by applying an organic Tomato-Tone food to each side of the tomato row and piling soil to cover up the tomato’s color. Water the base of tomato plants every week to prevent flower end rot. When green tomatoes appear, apply a layer of calcium carbonate (lime powder) to each side of the tomato vines. Cover the lime with soil on each side of the row. Water every week when no rain is expected.
