FOUNTAIN GREEN – One thing people across Utah associate with Fountain Green are “Lamb Days,” with traditional lamb dinners on Friday evenings and an assembly line of lamb sandwiches at midday on Saturdays.
Or, as one chief put it, “A lamb in a pit is better than a pig spitting any day.”
There are two events in this year’s ‘Pregnancy Days’ celebration that have already taken place or are underway. A musical show, “Hee Haw Hits Fountain Green”, was held this past Friday and Saturday, July 8-9, at the Fountain Green Community Theatre.
The popular mixed softball tournament began on Tuesday. The tournament will be held on Saturday at 6 pm
The rest of the celebration is Friday and Saturday this week. All events are Friday and Saturday in the city park, except for the parade on State Street. Lamb Show starts Friday at 10am. A car show will be held Friday 4-7:30 pm (registration online). Lamb dinner for $10 per dish starting Fridays from 5-8pm at the goal. Meanwhile, the Corn Hole Championship is back for its second year. It also starts on Friday at 5.
Lamb pit prep for cooking lamb for sandwiches will begin Friday at 8 p.m., and Disney’s baby movie “The Incredibles” premieres at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, come early for the fun run at 6:30 a.m. The race starts at the closing road from 132 Saudi riyals to the fish hatchery. Competitors must find a connection to the starting line.
Flag ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Chuck’s Trolley Breakfast will be held 7-9 a.m. ($6 per plate), and the Mammoth Parade on State Street begins at 10 a.m.
There will be a show at noon in the arc, followed by a youth talent show.
Mutton sandwiches will go on sale at 1pm and the famous lamb sculpture should keep everyone laughing while kids balance on wild and woolly sheep butts at 3pm Once again register online for this event, especially for riders aged 4 -7 or who weigh less than 55 lbs.
After the mixed softball tournament, which begins at 6 pm and ends at dusk, sit back and relax until the fireworks display begins at 10 pm
