Free ice cream and a splash pool? Yes, you heard me correctly.
With National Ice Cream Day just around the corner, the Museum of Ice Cream in Chicago (MOIC) will be serving frozen treats from Popsicle, Klondike, and Breyers from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The public will also have free access to the 56-foot outdoor spray pool, according to a press release.
Sunday’s celebration takes place at Pioneer Court, next to MOIC in downtown Chicago, which will open its doors to visitors on Saturday. The stormy city will be the third city in the United States to have a Department of Industry and Foreign Trade, after New York and Austin.
“The Museum of Ice Cream taps into your inner child,” said Manish Fora, co-founder of MOIC. “To let go of what’s happening in the outside world and forget what’s going on in the outside world, and eventually use their memories of ice cream, and discover new ice cream, to create memories and create that feeling where they can try new things, dream like (children).”

Do you get free ice cream at the museum?
yes! In total, you’ll encounter five rewards listed on the entry card – and the best part is that you can get as many as you want.
Specifically, you can try:
- dove bar,
- A cherry flavor cone with a jelly bean on top,
- Snow chunks covered in coconut and strawberry syrup,
- scoop raspberry or vanilla under cotton candy,
- Hot dog flavored ice cream with real mustard and pickles sandwiched between special bread.
While Jelly Bean alludes to Cloud Gate or “The Bean” in Millennium Park, hot dog-flavored ice cream touches on the famous Chicago-style hot dog, and Dove Bar, first established in Chicago in 1956, has a long history with the city. .
“Everyone loves a Chicago hot dog, but are you willing to try something completely new,” said Fura. “When you’re a kid… you’ll try anything, you’ll jump in the splash pool… and we want that experience here.”

What’s in the Chicago Ice Cream Museum?
Guests will learn about the history of Dove and different types of ice cream around the world. You can also play mini golf in a room with pink walls and candy decorations, as well as basketball and water cannon games in the carnival room.
Finally, you can hop in a bunch of plastic sprinkles. The indoor pool is about 26 inches deep, and the entire room is decorated in pink and red.
The museum includes an ice cream lab, where you can make your own rolled ice cream and choose toppings. However, you need to purchase an additional ticket, which costs $25. You can also enjoy milkshakes and cocktails at the bars, but these come at an additional cost.

How much is entry? How do you buy tickets?
MOIC Chicago tickets are usually $36 on weekdays and $44 on weekends. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. You can only buy your tickets online.
With large rose-colored windows, the entrance is easy to see. You will be guided through the entire museum, and the tour usually takes about 60-90 minutes.
