*NEW* Gnocchi di Patate: Potato pancakes with 4-cheese sauce and roasted cremini mushrooms – $9.00
That’s what you’d normally expect from an Italy winger, but the execution is probably a little less than you’d hoped. The sauce was heavy and broken with butter or oil. It was greasy and generally lacking in flavour. Gnocchi is the typical store-bought gnocchi, which is fine if you know how to cook it, but it wasn’t exactly great.
*NEW* Gnocchi di Patate: Potato Patties with Vodka Sauce, Romano Cheese, and Crispy Bacon – $9.00
We’ll say it flat – every part of this dish is store-bought relish. The vodka sauce tastes like it came from a can and lacks the balance of flavors that makes a good vodka sauce. Chunks of bacon don’t suit this dish, and they add more mush to an already mushy dish. We recommend skipping this stall and going straight to India, where you can get tikka masala and more bang for your buck.
*NEW* Panna Cotta: Orange Blossom Panna Cotta with Seasonal Berries—$8.00
The panna cotta was perfect for such a hot day. It is nice, cool and refreshing. It has a slight hint of citrus. It’s not the cheapest dessert option in the World Showcase, but we enjoyed it anyway. If you love orange desserts and parfait, you will love this one.
Italian White Sangria with Prosecco – $11.00
Usually, when a sangria at this price contains more juice than wine, we complain. However, since the wine in this drink tasted particularly cheap and unpleasant, it was a kind of relief. The drink was supposed to contain Prosecco; However, this was unknown from the lack of pairs.
Italian Red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon – $11.00
Have you ever put red wine in the microwave? That’s what this is. We thought the sangria came with ice and fruit, but this was just room temperature liquid. The flavor was fruity, so it would have been really good, but as the temperature got higher, it was too warm to drink.
Italian Margherita with Tequila and Limoncello – $11.00
The margaritas were so good that it almost tasted like lemon glaze melted. However, there didn’t seem to be much alcohol in the drink, as we didn’t taste much besides the faint hint of tequila. In general, this is a delicious drink, but do not expect to get a lot of alcohol for your money here.
Peroni Pilsner (5.1% ABV) – $6.00 for 6 ounces, $10.00 for 12 ounces.
Peroni Brewery describes their beer as “a refreshing beer with a delicate balance of bitterness, citrus and spicy aromatic notes, combined with a quick, clean finish.”
