REVIEW: DOLE Whip Completer’s Strawberry Cheesecake Award from Emile’s Fromage Montage disappoints at the 2022 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival

Emile’s Fromage Montage is back for the 2022 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. The scavenger hunt encourages guests to purchase select menu items at select booths to earn a prize from Shimmering Sips hosted by Corkcicle!

A list of items that are part of Emile’s Fromage Montage can be found in the festival passport as well as on some booth menu banners.

Cast members will stamp your passport when purchasing the corresponding treatment. You just have to choose five of the ten options.

Passion fruit cheesecake with roasted macadamia nuts – Hawaii

Note: The Hawaiian Market is not open until August 15th for this year’s event. However, this dish is making a comeback, so you can read our review from last year below.

This cheesecake is somewhat tame on the fruity flavor, the passion fruit on top is subtle enough that it can be noticed without overdoing it to make this cheesecake nice and balanced. Macadamia nuts with cheesecake are excellent. It’s not the most exciting dessert of the festival, but it’s worth a second look.

Canadian cheddar cheese and bacon soup served with pretzel roll – Canada

This soup is creamy and has bacon bites. Hints of cheddar cheese make this the best soup on the property. It’s too hot to eat soup, but it still hits the spot. We recommend dipping the salted bread into the soup. As good as it is, the price is still a bit high for the portion. Read our full review of the Canada market here.

Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread – Brazil

It’s very hard to recommend it for over $2 per piece of cheese bread, even if it’s pretty amazing. You can find a bag of Brazi-Bites at your local grocery for a fraction of the cost if you want to indulge in cheese heaven. Read the full Brazil Cabin review here.

Grilled cheese with pistachio and honey – Greek

This dish was really fun. The cheese flavor was like raclette, grilled with a nice crust and crunchy on the outside. The honey topped the salty cheese, and the pistachios added an extra crunch to the texture. Check out our full list of Greece booth reviews here.

Schinkennudeln – Germany

We love the flavors of this dish, but it’s just too heavy. It would be the perfect dish to warm up in the fall when it finally cools down a bit. It’s a pasta gratin with ham, onion and cheese. Everything goes well with layers like a casserole. It may be a little greasy, but its flavor and large portion size to share makes it worth it. Read our full listing review here.

Swiss-Alpine Warm Raclette Cheese

Every aspect of this dish is sweet except for the Swiss cheese. The smell of said cheese is overpowering. It comes with two slices of toast, two slices of boiled pear, and two and a half figs. This dish would be great for fall weather, but awful in the summer heat. The combination of sweet Swiss cheese and a very angry sun made this dish hard to swallow. Crispy paneer with ketchup mango curry – India

This is Indian cheese and it’s not bad without the chutney. It has a really unique flavour, a mix between cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. The sauce is very strong and tastes like ketchup and mango. We recommend lighting the sauce when dipping. Otherwise, it may be too heavy.

Crispy grilled pork chops with pimento cheese – premium pigs

Our group was split on this; Some loved it, and some thought it was horrible. Some of the pork rinds were too fried and hard to chew. The paprika was rich and cheesy with a peppery heat that was very present. However, there was also sweetness that some of us thought spoiled the dish. If you don’t mind mixing sweet roast and savory sweet chili cheese, this one might appeal to you. You can read our review of the entire list here.

Smoked Beef – Found in Flavors from Fire

This almost perfect dish is a returning favourite. Smoked beef is delicious, tender, and has a great sauce. There are plenty of chips to help pick up the meat and fondue – all three together is a match made in heaven. It’s an item to try, although it’s not new. Honestly, everything in Flavors from Fire is worth trying. You can read more about the list here!

Mac and Cheese – Mac and Eats

Three types of macaroni and cheese are included as options for Emile’s Fromage Montage.

Note: Mac & Eats will not be open until August 15th for this year’s event. However, there are two decks that bring back the items, and our reviews from 2021 can be found below.

This is a great basic macaroni and cheese. The cheddar is smooth and creamy, and the panko adds the perfect amount of crunch. What takes it to the next level is a small amount of spice that we think might be paprika.

A good upgrade to traditional mac and cheese. The smoked pork belly and the burnt ends were great complements, although the burnt ends were small, few and far between. But we are not complaining! This is still an exceptional dish. The peppers add a kick, and the crunchy bits of onions add a nice crunch.

Chili cheese (vegetarian)

This dish debuts on August 15th. We will update this article with our review at that time.

Completter Prize – DOLE Whip Strawberry Cheesecake in a keepsake mug

Once you’ve collected five stamps, you can head to Shimmering Sips Hosted by Corkcicle for your prize – strawberry cheesecake DOLE in a collector’s cup!

The cup features the Emile’s Fromage Montage logo with the same rat above and cheese slices on the sides.

Although this treat says strawberry, we only get the vanilla flavor in the bounty whip. No hints of strawberry at all. You can smell the fruits, but it is very subtle. All in all, the ice cream was still very good! It was refreshing and not too heavy on the stomach.

The cup is really nice too!

The cheesecake bite was delicious! But we would have loved it more if they had mixed in little bits of cheesecake. Still, a great treat to complete your Fromage Montage.
