Retired Teachers Announcing BEE Announcement: The Trumbull Retired Teachers Association announces enrollment in the spelling bee at the Trumbull County Fair. Bee for Trumbull County students who have just finished grades 1 through 8. Parents need to contact Garry to register at 216-262-3194.

The Bee will run at 1 p.m. Thursday on the historic stage at the Trumbull County Fair.

Pensioners and Widows to Meet: Police, Fire, and Widows Retirees of Ohio, District 2, Chapter 10 will gather at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive, Austin Town.

Feeding Sites Available: The Trumbull County Feeding Program for Seniors is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Aged Affairs and operates feeding sites at seven locations in the county. The meals will be delivered to county residents age 60 or older who are homebound, cannot cook for themselves and do not live with someone who can cook for them. Customer donations are accepted. For information, call 330-675-2486. Reservations must be made before 2pm, two working days in advance.

Thursday: Supreme Pizza Casserole, Green Beans, Warm Cinnamon Apple, Wheat Bread, Side Salad with Ranch Dressing, Angel Food Cake.

• July 15: Turkish club sandwich, potato salad, three-piece salad, seasonal fruits, and sherbet.

Scope Centers July Activities: Seniors in Trumbull County can attend any of the programs at any SCOPE Center. Call 330-399-8846 for more information.

JOHNSTON CENTER: Johnston Senior Center, 5922 State Route 5 in Johnston is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. To book lunch, call 2 business days in advance at 330-924-0412 or 330-675-2486. The cost is $2.25 for Trumbull County residents 60 and older and/or their spouse.

Classes include yoga, dance, flexibility, and a variety of other things, all of which can be modified to meet seniors at their ability level. Bingo is held weekly. Stop by or call 0412-924-330 to reserve a spot. Chair massages by appointment begin at 1 p.m. every Tuesday for $1 per minute from Living Wellness Holistic.

The Center and Trumbull County Office of Aged Affairs have resumed the Congregational Lunch and Inclusion Program “grab-n-go” lunch.

• The center will host its annual yard sale and fundraising event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, rainy or in the sun, on the grounds around the Johnston Senior Center. A Chinese auction will also be available at the Seniors Center all day along with free coffee, newspapers and social gatherings.

This event is a cross between the community yard sale and flea market and is open to the public and interested sellers.

The money raised from the space fee benefits the Johnston Senior Center.

Vendors interested in booking a place at the event should contact the Seniors Center any time during the week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Throughout the year, Johnston Senior Center receives a variety of donated items that cannot be used at the center, and they will be available on yard sale at very low prices. All funds from the sale and from vendor spaces are used to support a variety of senior activities and programs at the Centre.

The center offers several new programs designed exclusively for Trumbull County seniors.

• Monday – Yoga from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A different program every week in the afternoon. Blood pressure checks are available throughout the day.

• Tuesdays – Chair massages, 10am to noon (customers must pre-register), followed by noon Pizza Party lunch. Also, Mahjong, Wei bowling, blood pressure checks, coloring for relaxation, crafts and bible study.

• Wednesday – Wood, 9:30 a.m. to noon; Woodcarving and Pumpkin Art, 10-11 a.m.;

Needlework, from 11 a.m. to noon; Lunch, noon, 1 to 3 p.m.

• Thursday – Needlecraft, 10-11 a.m.; metal detection, from 11 am to noon; Blood pressure checks, cards and bingo from 1 to 3 pm

• Friday – Line Dance, 9:30-11:00; needlework, from 9 to 10 a.m.; Lunch, Noon Bingo Party, 1 to 3 PM

• Daily – free coffee, newspapers, blood pressure checks and puzzles.

All programs are free to Trumbull County residents age 60 and older.

FARMINGTON SENIOR CENTER: 150 College St. , Farmington, open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Monday. Call 330-889-2733. Lunches that include home cooking are $4 for ages 60 and over and $5 for those under 60. The lunch menu is posted on the center’s Facebook page.
