It’s almost sunflower season and there are plenty of goldfields to picnic in New York.

It’s that time of year when sunflowers begin to appear across the Empire State. Here are the 8 best places to see, wander, and pick your sunflowers this summer.

Thorne Farm – Wayne County

Thorne Farm in Clyde, New York has one of the best sunflower farms in New York State with over 200 acres of nearly a million sunflowers. But the fields are for display only. You cannot pick flowers or trespass in the fields. You are welcome to take selfies from the road, but additional professional photography of client sessions is not allowed.

The fields are located on hills with many blind spots. Please be careful and alert when stopping. Don’t stop in the middle of country roads, and pay attention to who is being stopped.

Go and explore the U-Pick Sunflower Field, which is home to over 100,000 sunflowers. This field contains more than six different types, so you will be sure to find the perfect one.

Sunflowers of Sandborn opens for the season August 1st.

Sunflower Valley Ranch is located in the Hudson Valley. Admission is $5 and includes three flowers. Additional flowers $1.

Discover the beauty and color of over a million sunflowers at Wickham Farms near Rochester. The iconic Sunflower Spectacular will be held from early August through early September.

More than 25,000 people visit the gold fields at Wagner Farms on the ancient Oneida Road in Rome. They will open in mid-July.

Rows of bright sunflowers are admired near the Inn Between restaurant in Camillus. Approximately 250,000 flowers are planted on 75 acres each year.

Named one of the best sunflower fields in the country by Country Living, Frederick’s Farm in Clifton Springs offers more than just flowers. There are unicorns through thousands of sunflowers, too.

Tail Farm – Barnifield
