The Niagara Wine Trail hosts an annual wine festival at Academy Park

The Niagara Wine Trail is bringing back the annual wine festival after a two-year pandemic halted. The two-day event takes place at Lewiston’s Academy Park, Saturday, July 23, from noon to 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 24, from noon to 5 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now at, for $35 in advance per person, or $40 at the door. Designated drivers and participants who do not drink alcohol are welcome free of charge.

“We are excited to have our festival again,” said Shane Gustafson, president of Wine Route and owner of A Gust of Sun Winery & Vineyard in Ransomville. “This is a great way to showcase our participating wineries all in one place.”

Each festival ticket includes three tastings of wine from each of the participating wineries, and a souvenir glass of wine (while supplies run out). Tickets are available for both days. The ticket price does not include food or transportation.

DJ P Nasty will perform music throughout the festival. Participants can enter to win prizes over the two days (must be present to win).

Complimentary bottled water will be provided by Principal Securities. Bottles of wine will be available for purchase. Anyone who purchases six bottles of wine will receive a free wine bag bearing the new Niagara Wine Trail logo.

The Niagara Wine Trail celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2022. The organization consists of 14 wineries, located between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario, and spanning through Niagara, Orleans, and Monroe counties. Each winery on the trail offers a variety of traditional style wines, local harvest, late harvest wines and ice wines, as well as unique styles such as award-winning fruit wines, meadowsweet and cider. Its mission is to “work together to advance the region’s winemaking through a range of intimate, authentic and enchanting guest experiences”.
