Serving high-quality hibachi and over 70 fresh sushi rolls, Saketini at Broussard revolutionizes the game. Serving authentic Asian cuisine with a little hint of Cajun influence, this sushi house is sure to please.
Skateney is owned by husband and wife Jonah and Diane Landry. Diane is a former sushi chef who worked at the restaurant when it first opened in 2010. The Landrys acquired the company in 2017 and they really wanted to rejuvenate people’s perception of the restaurant.
“I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this,” Diane explains. “We’ve spent a lot of time trying to improve the brand. We had to completely revamp the name and we seem to be doing a good job at it. We made it into the top five at Best of Acadiana for five years in a row. Last year we made it into the top three, so I think This is kind of a huge achievement.”

Diane has made it her goal to provide the highest quality food possible. She says if she doesn’t feed him to her kids she won’t serve him. You can ask her children for it in the restaurant. Her daughters Sidney, Jesper, and Lyric work in Sakatini all week. They enjoy supporting family businesses and providing a level of expertise for every dining experience.
Saketini has a very extensive menu that includes everything from raw sushi, noodles, stuffed peppers, and more. They also offer daily specials throughout the working week in case you are having a hard time choosing what to get.
Their most popular roll is called “Tap That” and it’s served on seaweed with rice, crab meat, cream cheese, shrimp slices and jalapeño slices. Roll topped with spicy tuna and avocado. Diane created the roll to include all her favorite sushi items in one and it became a bestseller.
Other popular items include Monkey Brains, a fried mushroom stuffed with crab and cream cheese, shrimp udon noodles, and hibachi. Saketini also has a full-service bar with plenty of seasonal cocktails, sake and other drinks to choose from.
“This whole experience was amazing,” she says. “I’m here all the time and I wouldn’t have any other way. Making relationships with our regulars and seeing families grow up right in front of us, nothing beats that.”
