I never agreed that happiness cannot be bought. I can buy ice cream and then immediately feel happy. Whether it’s a hot fudge sundae, peanut butter chocolate ice cream in a cone, or an ice cream sandwich, count me in it.
Hudson Valley residents rejoiced when local ice cream stands opened after a long winter. It also seemed as if the owners of these stores were equally excited to see everyone’s smiling faces and excited to return to their favorite location.
Each ice cream stand has its own character and is known for something different. Fortunately, we have a large selection of local ice cream shops to visit in the Hudson Valley. Nothing screams summer like a warm summer night at an ice cream stand.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve watched some of my favorite ice cream stores add new and exciting flavors. I’ve also come across new businesses that give the city a special flavor.
Hudson Valley companies are also becoming more and more health conscious about what they offer and give to their customers. There are more dairy-free, nut-free and homemade options in our area.
Let’s take a look at the weirdest ice cream flavors you’ll find right under your nose (in the Hudson Valley).
Alway Way Ice Cream
135 Division Street, Saugerties, NY 12477
known to be “Best ice cream ever in New York State”Alley Way Ice Cream is well known by the locals. Their menu style is great with unique and delicious flavours. Have you ever had an ice cream called “Ube Heath Bar Crunch” or even, “Vegan Cold Brew Ice Cream with Magic Donut Dust”? I have to know what magic donut dust tastes like. This local ice cream shop has handcrafted options and something for all dessert lovers.
504 Main St, Beacon, NY 12508
known to be “The best vegan ice cream”The Vegan Stuff is not only making residents drool over ice cream styles in person, but also on social media. They have not only vegan ice cream but cakes, pancakes and brownies as well.
It’s fun flavors like, ‘Peanut Butter & Jelly Time’ and ‘Thai Iced Tea’. Imagine even getting a scoop of every flavor? My taste will be in heaven. This local, vegan ice cream shop brings new meaning to the healthy dessert option while still indulging in our favorite meal of the day, dessert.

Celebrating over 200 years, this local ice cream shop knows how to keep customers happy. Since the 19th century, they have not only served ice cream, but have also been smiling for generations. They are known to have “The finest homemade ice cream, waffle cones, cakes and pancakes” and more.
Bellvale Farms Creamery has fun and exciting flavors to try such as “Calf Trax” and “Barn Boots.” I wonder how either of them tastes, it seems as if I should find out for myself (those are my modern tastes).

Hudson Valley Artist Home that once housed an ice cream parlor
According to a source, the property at 1820 Route 82 was formerly known as Pince Cones Ice Parlor. This property is now available for purchase but not as an ice cream shop. Now it is a beautifully restored residence that was recently occupied by the owner who is a well-known artist, sculptor, illustrator and animator. Wait until you see the inside. Bring your ideas.
